The Gardeners' Hut on Soho Square

The Gargoyle Club

The Gargoyle Club was located on the upper floors of 69 Dean Street, and was founded in 1925. It has been described as ‘the epitome of decadent glamour’, but by the 1950’s had become a seedy drinking den and strip club. Prior to that incarnation, it had been the home to one Sweet Nell of Drury Lane. Her apparition and the smell of gardenias were reported at the club.

69 Dean Street later became Gossip's nightclub. Together with 70 Dean Street, it is now the Dean Street Townhouse hotel. It is not known if the phenomena continues to be experienced in the hotel.
